Travel from Entebbe into southwestern Uganda, through changing landscapes and the rolling hills of the countryside, before reaching the ancient forests of Bwindi. The highlight is a guided trek into the forest to meet a habituated mountain gorilla family in its natural habitat. Ideal for travellers with limited time who still want to experience Uganda’s mountain gorillas.
Day 1: Arrive in Uganda
Welcome to Uganda. Meet your Pride Nature Safaris representative at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to your hotel for your first night. Take the evening to relax and recover from your journey before your safari begins.
Day 2: Entebbe to Bwindi
After breakfast, begin your journey southwest towards Bwindi. The drive takes you through Uganda’s changing landscapes and rural countryside, with a stop at the Equator along the way. Continue to the southern sector of Bwindi, arriving in time to settle in and prepare for tomorrow’s trek.
A domestic flight can be arranged on request, subject to availability.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking
The moment you have been waiting for. After an early breakfast, head to the Rushaga sector for your trekking briefing before entering Bwindi’s ancient forest with experienced rangers and trackers. The trek can take several hours depending on the location of the gorilla family; once you find them, you have up to one hour to observe them in their natural environment. Return to your lodge to rest and reflect on an unforgettable encounter.
Day 4: Bwindi to Entebbe
After breakfast, begin the journey back to Entebbe with stops along the way for refreshments and lunch. Depending on your international flight schedule, we can arrange a direct transfer to the airport or a day-use room for a later departure.
Gorilla trekking takes place in mountainous rainforest and can be physically demanding; trekking time varies with the location of the gorilla family. Permits are subject to availability and should be secured well in advance. Porters are available for travellers who would like assistance during the trek.
Gorilla trekking is generally available to travellers aged 15 and above, subject to the regulations in force at the time of travel.
